Able have contracted with Offset Organisation Greenfleet to plant approximately 7,500 biodiverse trees on their behalf. The trees will be protected for over 100 years and are expected to sequester approximately 2,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. In addition, the trees will improve the planting area's water quality, reduce soil erosion and create wildlife habitat.

Able Plastics was one of the companies involved in the Climate Positive project of planting a rainforest at Balook in Gippsland.
This planting site included the planting of Mountain Ash. Researchers from the The Australian National University have recently published a report that shows that Victoria's Mountain Ash forests have the potential to hold more carbon than any type of forest in the world.
It is now estimated that this site ( in total ) will be responsible for removing up to 6,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere over the life of the planting.

In the wake of last year's devastating Australian bush fire season, Able are now focusing on reforestation for their CO2 offsets. To this end Able will be working with Greenfleet to offset CO2 through tree planting. Greenfleet is an approved Abatement Provider under the Australian Government's Greenhouse Friendly Initiative. In addition to the CO2 offset, there are other benefits;
- Reduced soil erosion
- Enhanced micro-climates in the surrounding areas
- Improved water quality
- Reduced ground and water salinity
- Wind protection of arable crops
- Shelter belts for livestock
- Wildlife corridor
The trees planted by Greenfleet will be protected for a minimum of 100 years.
Follow this link to the Greenfleet site if you'd like to review their planting methodology; http://www.greenfleet.com.au/Global/Landowners/index.aspx
Able will also continue to work with offset provider Climate Positive. http://www.climatepositive.org/
